Getting here
Petersburg sits on the Kentucky bank of the Ohio River almost directly across from Lawrenceburg and Aurora, but there's no bridge in between, so the road trip goes around through I-275. From the hotel, take US-50 about 2 miles to I-275, head toward Kentucky across the Carroll Cropper Bridge, and get off at exit 11. The Idlewild Bypass connects to KY-20 (Petersburg Road), which winds west toward the river and into Petersburg.
The Creation Museum is just off that same stretch, on Bullittsburg Church Road a couple of miles from the exit, which is why the museum is about 15 minutes from your room while the town itself is closer to 20. Going back, reverse the route and take I-275 toward Indiana to exit 16.

Most Petersburg visitors come for the Creation Museum, and most of them are traveling as families or church groups. Those trips go better with a hot breakfast before the doors open, a pool to burn off energy afterward and rooms with real space. The Deluxe King Studio Suite is our largest room, with a king bed and a sofa bed for up to four, and the Two Queen Room also sleeps four. The location also works for the second day of the trip. The Ark Encounter in Williamstown is about 45 minutes from the hotel, so a two-night stay lets you do the museum one day and the ark the next without packing up in between.
Petersburg is a small, quiet river town in western Boone County, with a handful of old houses, river views and farmland on the ridges above. The Creation Museum, run by the same ministry as the Ark Encounter, is the big attraction, with exhibits, a planetarium, botanical gardens and a petting zoo. Beyond the museum, the drive south along the river is the main draw. Rabbit Hash, with its general store and honorary dog mayor, is a short scenic drive down the Kentucky side, and the Dinsmore Homestead historic farm is on KY-18 between Petersburg and Burlington.
Breakfast runs until 9:30 AM on weekdays and 10 AM on weekends. Eat, then leave about 20 minutes before the museum opens and you'll be among the first in line. Parking at the museum is handled on site, so you don't need to plan a separate lot.
After a day of walking, the indoor heated pool is open until 9:00 PM, and dinner options in Lawrenceburg and at Hollywood Casino are about five minutes from your room. Families with small children can request a free crib, and rollaways are $10 per night. If you're traveling with a dog, pet rooms are on the third floor at $25 per pet per night.
