Hidden Valley borders Greendale to the north and stretches east toward the Ohio state line, so the drive from the hotel is short but runs on local roads rather than a highway. Leave Eads Parkway into Greendale and follow your GPS north into the hills. Most homes in the community are about 5 miles and 10 to 15 minutes from the hotel, depending on which side of the lake you're visiting.
Hidden Valley Lake is a private community with its own security patrol, so ask your host how guests are expected to enter and which entrance to use. Have their name and street address handy. A map app will get you to the area, but it won't know the community's guest procedures.

Hidden Valley is almost entirely private homes built around the lake, and its amenities are set aside for property owners and their guests. When relatives come for a long weekend, a holiday or a summer lake party, the guest room fills up fast. The hotel gives overflow guests their own space 12 minutes away, and the free hot breakfast means nobody has to cook for a crowd the morning after.
There's a room for most situations. Two-queen rooms sleep four, studio suites add a sofa bed, and the King Whirlpool Suite, with an in-room jetted tub, suits a couple who'd like a little time to themselves between family gatherings. If your hosts' home isn't set up for pets, the hotel takes up to two dogs or cats of any size for $25 per pet per night.
Hidden Valley started in the early 1970s as a weekend retreat and has grown into a full-time community of roughly 5,500 residents as of the 2020 census, spread across Miller and Lawrenceburg townships in eastern Dearborn County. The main lake is the centerpiece, with boating, fishing and beaches for members, plus smaller lakes, pools and courts around the property.
The community also has an 18-hole golf course, Hidden Valley Golf Club, which opened in the mid-1970s. Listings disagree on whether outside golfers can book tee times, so call the club before you pack your clubs.
Outside the gates, you're close to plenty. Perfect North Slopes, for skiing and snow tubing in winter, and Shawnee Lookout, with trails and river overlooks just across the Ohio line, are each about 15 minutes from the hotel. Downtown Lawrenceburg's restaurants and the casino are 5 to 6 minutes away.
Roads in and around Hidden Valley are hilly, winding and narrow in places, and they can ice over quickly in winter. Give yourself a few extra minutes after dark, and watch for walkers, golf carts and deer.
Lake access, beaches and the marina follow the community's rules, so follow your hosts' lead on where guests can go. The hotel can't arrange access to community facilities. After a late lake party, the 24-hour front desk means you can come back whenever the evening winds down, ideally with a designated driver behind the wheel.
