HOTELS NEAR DEARBORN COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS
Express Inn & Suites at 1000 East Eads Parkway is about 8 minutes from the Dearborn County Fairgrounds and about 6 minutes from the Lawrenceburg Event Center, both in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Rooms start from $69 per night with free hot breakfast, free parking, and a 24-hour front desk for late shows and long fair days.
Both venues are a short, straight shot east on US-50 (Eads Parkway) from the hotel toward downtown Lawrenceburg. The Dearborn County Fairgrounds, which is also home to Lawrenceburg Speedway, is about 8 minutes away. The Lawrenceburg Event Center sits downtown at the corner of Walnut and High Streets, near Hollywood Casino, about 6 minutes from our lot.
People mix the two up, so it's worth saying plainly: they're separate places. The fairgrounds is the open-air home of the county fair, livestock barns, and the race track. The Event Center is an indoor venue used for concerts, banquets, expos, and wedding receptions.
The big week at the fairgrounds is the Dearborn County 4-H and Community Fair, usually held in early summer. Expect livestock shows and the livestock sale, 4-H exhibits and judging, the 4-H royalty contest, midway rides, and live music. For 4-H families it's a long week of early barn chores and late evenings, and for everyone else it's a classic small-county fair a few minutes from the hotel.
Outside of fair week the grounds host other shows and gatherings through the year, and Saturday nights in racing season belong to the speedway. The Lawrenceburg Event Center keeps its own calendar of touring concerts, private parties, galas, and receptions. For either venue, check the official schedule and buy tickets through the venue or the event organizer.
Fair week fills local rooms quickly, especially the weekend of the livestock sale and any headline grandstand night. Once the fair board posts the dates, book as soon as you can and confirm the cancellation policy with the front desk when you do.
If you're showing animals, expect early mornings. Breakfast runs until 9:30 AM on weekdays and 10 AM on weekends, and the mini-fridge and microwave in every room let you stock up for the days you're out the door before it opens. The guest laundry earns its keep during fair week: wash show shirts and barn jeans on site instead of packing a week's worth.
For an Event Center concert or reception, the 6-minute drive means you can change at the hotel, head downtown, and be back without a long late-night drive. If you plan to drink at a reception, arrange a rideshare or a designated driver for the short trip back.
Summer fair days are hot, and the barns and midway don't offer much shade. Chill a few water bottles overnight in your room's mini-fridge so they're cold when you head out, and pack sunscreen and a hat for the kids. A swim in the indoor pool, open until 9 PM, is a good way to cool everyone off before bed.
We're close enough that a forgotten halter or a change of clothes is a quick round trip, and far enough from the midway that the room is quiet when you need sleep. The 24-hour front desk is there whether you roll in after the last grandstand show or after a reception that ran long.
For wedding parties, family reunions, and 4-H clubs traveling together, we can hold a group room block, and our meeting space seats up to 30 for a rehearsal gathering or a club meeting. Families get a break, too: up to 2 kids 18 and under stay free using existing bedding, cribs are free, and a rollaway is $10 per night. Dogs and cats are welcome in third-floor pet rooms for $25 per pet, per night.
Tips from the front desk
Fair week is the busiest stretch of the summer in Dearborn County. Reserve as soon as the fair board announces the dates.
Use the guest laundry for show clothes mid-week instead of packing a full suitcase.
The Event Center is downtown at Walnut and High Streets, not at the fairgrounds. Double-check your ticket before you leave.
Wedding guests heading to the Event Center can share one group block. Call the front desk with your date.
